Director of Ohio Operations, Ron Milburn organized MIRA members in Ohio with visits to their legislators at the MIRA Ohio Legislative Day in Columbus, Ohio. The MIRA constituency advocated for a “fix” to the onerous CAT Tax as applied in Ohio. The tax is grossly unfair to gas retailers in Ohio, as it requires them to pay a tax on their gross receipts at three different levels of distribution of gasoline. The MIRA members visited the offices of over 40 legislators who generally responded very positively to the concept of “fixing” the tax unfairness. Language is currently being drafted in an effort to “leveling the playing field.” The MIRA remains committed to aggressively advocating for a “fix” to this tax unfairness issue.
