We sincerely apologize to the gluten-free community and to anyone who may have been impacted. We care deeply about making safe, nutritious, gluten free products and making them more widely available. We’ve worked very hard to ensure our products are gluten free. Today we must acknowledge that we failed to meet that commitment for a time, and we’re recalling all affected products as a result. Please know that our oat supply was not the issue. We tested our oat supply on these dates – and the oat supply tested as gluten free. We also tested the specific oat flour being used at our Lodi, California facility – and our oat flour supply also tested as gluten free on the dates in question.
Please find attached our press release which has more information on this recall. We are also sensitive to the challenges in communicating recall information to your participants. Please find attached a suggested “sign” that can be made available to your clinics to post to help ensure that your participants become aware of this recall. We are currently translating this sign to Spanish and will send these materials to you as soon as we have them available. While Honey Nut Cheerios is not eligible for WIC, we felt it important to ensure that consumers are aware of the possible undeclared allergen for this very popular cereal and therefore have included that information.
Please note that this recall does not affect Multigrain Cheerios.
