Walmart and Kroger are trying to offset the recent hike in gas prices with their own discounts.
Walmart is bringing back its Great Gas Rollback program. Customers who use a Walmart gift card receive a discount of 10 cents per gallon. Customers using a credit card or Walmart MoneyCard save 15 cents per gallon. The Great Gas Rollback program began Aug. 31 and will end on Dec. 24. Discounts will be available at more than 1,000 Murphy USA gas stations located in Walmart and Walmart Supercenters in the 20 participating states.
Kroger is also offering gas discounts, extending its summer fuel savings program through Dec. 31. Consumers can earn and redeem fuel points to save up to $2 off per gallon at Kroger Family Stores Fuel Centers. Kroger’s promotion doubles the maximum points redeemable for a discount. Consumers will continue to earn and redeem up to 2,000 fuel points through regular purchases and special offers through the end of the year, a three-month extension of the current promotion.
