As you know , as a result of the government shutdown, FNS SNAP Retailer Operations staff was furloughed. Therefore, during shutdown, FNS was not able to accept, process, or provide updates on SNAP retailer applications. We’re happy that the shutdown has ended and are working quickly to resume normal operations.
However, we ask that you please bear with us as we do so. We will have limited ability to focus on specific inquiries.
- Internal systems are not yet up and will be brought up only after carefully ensuring that there are no inadvertent consequences.
- Our SNAP Retailer Service Center (call center) contract staff is not yet back on board; it will take some time to start that team back up and they will not be able to answer inquiries until our systems are again fully functional.
- We will also then be assessing and triaging pending applications as well as stores that have been withdrawn and/or sanctioned and were unable to contact FNS.
- We anticipate an uptick in the short-term volume of applications submitted; we also fully expect that call volume at the SNAP Retailer Service Center, once operational, will quickly exceed capacity.
We ask for your patience and continued cooperation as we work toward resuming normal operations.
