Last week, legislation moved through a Congressional committee that would repeal the debit reforms we fought so hard to achieve. The next stop for this bill is the House floor where it is expected to be voted on in just a couple of weeks. We must stop the repeal efforts but to do so we need your help.
The legislation, the Financial CHOICE Act, H.R. 10, includes a full repeal of debit reforms and it is being championed by Visa, MasterCard, and the big banks. They are dumping significant resources into repealing these reforms so that they can take more of your and your customers’ money in debit swipe fees. If their efforts are successful, your debit fees will skyrocket and your network routing options will be blocked on debit cards controlled by the giant networks.
As you know, this is truly David v. Goliath. We were successful 7 years ago when these reforms were passed in Congress and we will be successful again with your help. That’s why your voice is critical.
