Cuyahoga County (OH) gas station owners and managers are invited to “The Skinny on Skimmers,” a free training on how to protect their stations from illegal credit card skimmers.
ID thieves use a variety of ploys to distract station employees while they plant illegal skimmers on gas pumps. The Cuyahoga County and Cleveland Weights and Measures Departments are partnering with the U.S. Secret Service to train station owners and managers how to recognize and report the latest types of skimmers.
The session runs from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at Cleveland Public Hall, 500 Lakeside Ave., and is open to anyone who owns or manages a gas station in Cuyahoga County. Paticipants will receive materials they can use to train their employees.
Advance registration is required. To sign up, fill out the online registration HERE or call the Cuyahoga County Weights and Measures at 216-443-7035.
In addition to learning about skimmers, Weights and Measures will share information on how to avoid unregistered service companies and other common Weights and Measures compliance issues.
