There have been many questions about the new HealthCare Reform changes since January 2014 and what we have come to know as “Obama Care”. While each and every one of us has purchased Health Insurance, it has been a challenging experience, however, it is here to stay.
I have over 10 years’ experience, as a Licensed Independent Agent, and I can assist in helping you understand how to navigate the Health Insurance maze. As of January 2014, you were able to purchase your Health Insurance through the State of Michigan’s website known as “The Marketplace”. Many of you, went to the Marketplace, purchased your own coverage and may not have fully understood the benefits of the plan you had chosen. If you have the assistance of an experienced Licensed Agent to help you through the Health Insurance process, you will avoid choosing the wrong plan for 2016.
Each year, there is a very small time frame where you can buy new coverage, make changes to your current plan, or add and remove individuals. This time frame is called “OPEN ENROLLMENT”. For 2016, Open Enrollment will start on November 1, 2015 and run through January 31, 2016. Once Open Enrollment ends, you will be locked into the plan and benefits you chose for the remainder of 2016. This is why it is very important to have a Licensed Agent like myself, Don Jorgensen of National Benefit Plans, working for you and helping you through the insurance process. With so many plans available to you, based on family size and household income, it can be overwhelming. Last year, I helped over 1,400 new members navigate this maze and got them some of the best plans on the Marketplace, based on each of their individual circumstances.
